From Revolution to Renaissance at SB’13

“From revolution to Renaissance” — it’s the theme of this year’s Sustainable Brands ’13, to be held June 3 to 6 in San Diego, California. PRé will be attending the innovative, four-day event, along with sustainability practitioners from industry giants like Google, Sony, and Target.

“This is one of the more invigorating and exciting conferences we’ll attend all year,” PRé North America President Renée Morin said. “SB brings together both brand owners and sustainability experts, which can lead to innovation and fresh perspectives on how to truly integrate sustainability metrics into companies.”

 

 

Morin, who will be attending SB’13 along with PRé’s Technical Specialist Cashion East and LCA Consultant  Andrew Geffken, is looking forward to contributing to the conversation about metrics integration. At the PRé booth (No. 37), attendees can hear about some of PRé’s innovative new case studies from recent client work, including evaluation of e-waste recycling, communicating “green” building materials, and more. Visitors can also learn about PRé’s groundbreaking work with GEDnet, the initiative dedicated to creating a single database, unifying product category rules from around the world.

 

Attendees can also see PRé’s work with last year’s SB Innovation Open winner, Ecofilter. “We compared their product to other water filtration systems available in Guatamala as part of their award,” Morin explained.

 

 

The PRé team will also be attending various workshops throughout the event, such as, “Bringing Life Cycle Assessment to Life: Applying LCA to Build Futureproof Products and Brands.” “This panel in particular is important because of PRé’s work with The Sustainability Consortium,” Morin explained. “We want to stay up to date with how other LCA practitioners are defining the scope of LCAs, in a practical sense. At panels like these, we want to fully understand and invest, as well as participate. Because we have such a wealth of info and expertise, we can add our value and insights to the session.”

 

Client meetings are also on PRé’s agenda while at SB’13. “When we get together at events like these, we can reconnect and share our perspective on the importance of metrics as the platform for sustainability,” Morin explained.

 

And there’s always time to form new relationships, as well. “At SB’13, there’s such a heavy brand emphasis, it’s a unique opportunity for us to be able to learn about the challenges of potential clients, and how we can help them develop their brand around sustainability, while avoiding greenwashing,” Morin explained. “That’s really where metrics integration can help strengthen a company’s platform, often through software solutions, like SimaPro.”

 

 

Thanks to a wealth of attendees from industry, nonprofits, academia, and more, Morin is looking forward to SB’13, saying, “I plan to be inspired.”
